Our Mandate:
At Sandbox Children's Theatre, we live by the principles of the sandbox: Play. Have fun. Build a new world. Create. Find something new. Share. Look at worms. With a focus on Social Studies topics in the elementary curriculum, we provide our audiences with educational, musical, character-building productions that bring Social Studies to life in a fun, exciting and creative way.
We want children to walk away from our shows with a smile on their face, warmth in their heart and knowing more about the world around them. But most of all, we want them to walk away and be better little people. It is very important that our shows have strong messages of tolerance, acceptance and appreciation for all of the world's inhabitants.
We encourage children to be proud of their differences, because these differences make them who they are. We want children to take joy in the small discoveries of everyday life - the smell of rain, the shape of a leaf, an afternoon with a friend. The world, after all, is a pretty neat place, and Social Studies can open our eyes to just how big our world really is.
Our productions are exciting and exhilarating, as children watch their textbooks come alive right before their eyes. If you stop to think about it, there's pretty much treasure everywhere, and sometimes it's right in your own backyard. And in the Sandbox, with a little water and some imagination, who knows what amazing worlds you can create?
So why don't you dig? And bring Social Studies to life!
